How to Become a Successful Affiliate Marketer

I used to think that being involved in affiliate marketing is effortless and is an easy way to earn passive income. Well, it is not and money does not simply fall from the sky.

In any business success EFFORT and COMMITMENT is Key. So before you immerse yourself in this business, ask yourself whether you are willing to put in 100% EFFORT and COMMITMENT.
What is affiliate marketing?
By definition “Affiliate marketing" is the process of earning a commission through promoting other people's or company's) products. You find and select a product you like (which is usually termed as NICHE) promote it to others and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.
Sound easy as ABC right?
Well technically not that easy as it sound. You need to be committed to learn the steps towards becoming an Affiliate Marketer and the most important is to take ACTION.
Here's all you need;
1. Choose your niche or product that you want to promote

Affiliate marketing is all about promoting other’s products and earning a commission on sales you made for them. Choosing a niche will give focus to your business and help you with content. It’ll also make it easier to create targeted marketing campaigns. For some people, choosing their niche is the hardest part of starting their own business, but it doesn’t have to be that way. To choose your niche, it just takes asking a few questions:
  • What am I passionate about? Typically, the things we’re passionate about are things we’re also already knowledgeable about, which makes it much easier to create content.
  • Is this topic big enough? Is there enough to the topic to create up to 100 blog posts? If not, you may struggle with search engine optimization or have trouble developing authority.
  • Is the niche oversaturated? Is there room for another affiliate in the niche? Before jumping into an overly popular niche and trying to compete with folks who’ve been around for a while, maybe give another niche a try.
  • Is there money in this niche? Money isn’t everything, to be sure. If you’re interested in a couple of topics and one is a moneymaker, but one isn’t… choose the moneymaker.
Here's a tiny list of suggestion
  • Books
  • Software and plugins
  • Electronics
  • Clothing, footwear, fashion, and beauty products
  • Online services
  • Food products
2. Develop your platform WHERE you will promote the product:
You have the product to promote, now the question is where are you going to promote it?
For this, you need your own platform. Generally, it’s an online platform because online offers a large volume of outreach without much physical effort.
A few major platforms you can use for your affiliate marketing are;
  • Your own website
  • Social media page or group
  • Youtube or other video sites
  • Email outreach
  • Pay-per-click advertising.
3. Build your Audience WHOM you will promote the product:
Having a huge audience is what makes your affiliate marketing successful.
An audience that trusts your suggestion.
An audience that you can motivate to buy something.
An audience that takes your referral seriously.
Building such trust is the HEART of affiliate marketing. And, you can do it if you CARE about your audience. If you understand their problems and come up with solutions that solve their problems.
If you have all the three above mentioned requirements. You are ready for the LAUNCH.

1. Enter into the Affiliate Program in your niche.
There are two ways to enter into an affiliate program: Affiliate network and In-house program.
An affiliate network is where you can easily find the companies or merchants offering affiliate programs for their product.
All you need to do is register there as their affiliates and start promoting.
Make sure you properly go through the policy and guidelines of their affiliate program and then register.
Here is the list of the top affiliate networks.
  • ShareASale
  • ClickBank
  • CJ Affiliate
  • Amazon Associates
Whereas in the In-house affiliate program, the merchants itself start an affiliate program on their own website and you can directly apply and register as their affiliate.
Once again make sure to go through all details and understand everything before registering for the affiliate programs
2. Share your affiliate links on your platform.
Once you register as an affiliate to any company or merchants, you get an affiliate link for the product you choose to promote.
This affiliate link is like a channel using which you will drive your audience to the merchant's website.
These links allow the merchants to identify the affiliates that bring the customers.
There are various ways to share the affiliate link. some are as follows;
  • As a direct link(using hypertext)
  • As side banner (on websites)
  • As post (on social media)
  • In the description of the YouTube videos.
3. Make the sale
You are very close.
Your audience will click the link for some reason. Give them that reason. Show them the value of the product that you are promoting.
If your audience clicks the affiliate link and purchases the product. You WON it. You made a SALE for which you own a commission.
4. Take the commissions
Your commission is your revenue in affiliate marketing.
If you have too many such sales you have too many revenues.
With time you will have a flowing river of revenue.
Good luck with your affiliate business.
